Please see Jayci on her new website.

I am discontinuing updates to this blog and will now be posting to www.jaycimarie.com so please update your bookmarks to reflect this. This is the blog that my sister and I have been working on and Cheryl has been able to move all of the content from this blog to the new one. This new blog is a little different as most of the posts will be written from Jayci's perspective and from time to time her Aunt Cheryl or her mommy and daddy will directly write a post. Please leave comments as we love to read them and again please change your bookmarks in your favorites to the following:

Jayci's 1st Christmas!

Jayci got a visit from Santa on Tuesday night and she loved it! Santa had to make an early visit because her big sister Molly had to go back to her Mom's on Wednesday. Jayci received some clothes and toys and we can't wait to see her with all of these. On Thursday we went to Uncle Billy's for Christmas day and we had so much fun as we so enjoyed spending time with family and there was a lot of good food to enjoy as well.

I have to go back to work on Monday but Jayci is looking forward to having three whole days with just her and her daddy. I am not looking forward to having to go back to work as I am going to miss spending all day with her but she is going to have a wonderful time in daycare and I am sure she will be taken such good care of and as she gets older she will make many friends.

First visit with Santa and second doctor's appointment.

Jayci has had a lot going on in the past couple of days. First off me-me and grandpa came to visit and we took Jayci to see Santa for the first time! Jayci did very well and I thought she wouldn't let us take her pacifier out for the picture but she did and the picture turned out very well.

The second important event Jayci had was her second doctor's appointment. Jayci's latest statistics are:

11 lbs 12 ozs
22 1/4 inches long
16 7/8 inches for her head

Jayci did very well and the doctor said she is a little small for her age but that there is nothing to worry about and that she is very healthy. She did have to get four shots (two in each thigh) that the she didn't like very well but her daddy took us out to Red Lobster afterwards and she fell asleep during dinner and is sleeping it off as I am typing this out. We go back to the pediatrician in two months for her next checkup. My maternity leave ends on the 29th of December and Jayci will start daycare on the 5th of January.

Pictures

Over the last couple of days we have been trying to take some more pictures and here are just a couple of the ones that we got.

We really haven't had a lot going on in the last week as we have just been hanging around the house and trying to get the house decorated a little for Christmas. We are hopping that next weekend when me-me (that would be grandma for those who didn't know) and grandpa and maybe aunt Cheryl come to see us that we will go see Santa!!!

I am a high tech baby!!

Jayci has more blogs then she knows what to do with and now she has her very own website at http://www.jaycimarie.com/ and this is addition to the blog that aunt Cheryl has setup for her at http://www.bossdoss.com/jaycimarie/

I am sure in time we will try to condense everything into one place but for now since I am updating my blog and Cheryl is working on hers please check out all of them and leave comments so we know what you think.

First doctor's appointment.

We took Jayci last Tuesday for her first trip to the pediatrician. Scott met us at the doctors office and when the nurse took us back she went ahead and weighed her and also measured her. She is now up to 10 lbs 10 ozs, 21 1/2 inches long and her head is 15 1/2 inches around. She also had to get her heel pricked to draw blood and she got a shot in her upper thigh. She did really well with being pricked but when she got the shot she turned shades of red I hadn't seen before! The doctor checked her from head to toe and she got a clean bill of health. We have her 2 month checkup on December 16th.

I'M ONE MONTH OLD TODAY!

Today Jayci is one month old!

A lot has been going on in this last month as Jayci has gotten bigger, she is eating more, she is more aware of her surroundings, she will now smile at you when she is not asleep and she is holding her head up more and more. When she is on her back she is beginning to look like she is making the starting attempts to figure out how to roll over. I know I still look at her in amazement and at times I can't believe she is here. I have loved watching Scott being a father to her and being a mother is awesome. Molly and Brittany have been such good big sisters and I know they will always be there for her. It has also been incredible to see mom and dad with their new grandchild and I know that Jayci is so very lucky to have such a loving family. It is just a couple of short weeks before our little girl gets to meet the rest of her family for Thanksgiving and I know we are all looking forward to that.

Love to everyone!

Jayci's first overnight trip and quick update.

Jayci will be a month old this Thursday and last night was her first night away from home since she left the hospital. Jayci and I will be spending the week at Mom's house and unfortunately we had to leave daddy at home. There has been so much going on in the past 3 weeks since we have been home and I have loved every minute of it. We finally introduced Jayci to a bottle last week and now I am no longer nursing her but she is getting some breast milk by bottle. Breastfeeding was going very well but then Jayci was needing more then I could give her so we had to start suplementing with some formula and I have to say even though I loved the time that Jayci and I spent together while nursing was a wonderful experience it has been nice now that others can give her a bottle. Now that we are at Mom's I can blog a little more I hope and I will also be trying to go through some pictures and post them as well. Jayci has been such a wonderful baby and has really had very few fussy times and has been really good at giving us a little sleep during the night. Jayci has also started to coo and laugh (even though she only laughs in her sleep) and we love to watch all the various expressions on her face and they tring to capture them on camera has been a task. I still can't believe how much she has grown in the past 3 1/2 weeks as she has already outgrown most of her newborn clothes and her hair and eyes are getting lighter as well. She still has a head full of hair but it has changed from dark brown to more of a blonde. Well it is time to feed her again and Mom and I are headed out to go shopping. Love to everyone!

Jayci getting settled at home

Here are a few pics of Jayci's last day at the hospital and a couple from home. She is so beautiful and we cherish every second we get to spend with her. We would like to thank everyone who came by the hospital to see us and hope to see more family and friends soon. I want to personally thank Jenny for bringing Molly down and letting her share in this experience with us as well.

From A Mom's Perspective

It has been a while since I have posted an entry into the blog and that is because as many of you already know I gave birth to a beautiful little girl Thursday night and since then Scott and my sister Cheryl have been keeping up the blogs so all of our friends and family could share in this time with us. This post is a little long but I wanted to write something from myself about this amazing experience.

I was very nervous going into the hospital Wednesday night and getting the induction started. When we got to the labor and delivery floor I was escorted back to a room by myself and had to leave Scott, Mom, Dad and Cheryl in the waiting room. Once the nurses got me settled into my room Scott was brought back and then shortly after Mom was able to come back as well. Because of the restriction on the number of people in the room (we had one more then they would allow) then there was a little swapping around but it turned out where everyone got to spend a good bit of time with me. I was given medication to get the induction process started and then they gave me something else to help me sleep and it worked like a charm! Cheryl and Dad went back to my house for the night and Scott and Mom stayed the night at the hospital. Thursday morning my Dr came in and started the medicine that got my contractions going and as the hours progressed so did the pain until I finally decided it was time for the epidural. I was also very nervous about the epidural but I have to say that it really wasn't that bad and it was worth any pain involved. When the medication started to work they could have done whatever they wanted to do and I wouldn't have cared as I couldn't feel a thing after that point from my belly button down and as a matter of fact I fell asleep! Once I woke up the Dr came in a couple of times to check to see if I had dialated enough to start pushing and when that time came I had execellent coaches as again I couldn't feel anything so they had to tell me when to push and helped count as I breathed through each one. After about two hours of pushing the Dr explained that because Jayci's head was not turned right that we needed to do a c-section and that was hard for me to take as I didn't want to go that route but as she said we could have kept trying but if it went much longer then we ran the chance that it would have turned into an emergency situation and I didn't want that to happen so I was wheeled back to the operating room and shortly after we brought this little precious gift we had been waiting on into this world and that moment changed our lives forever. It was a weird experience to be behind a curtain where I could not see anything that was going on but I could hear Jayci cry when she came out and that was music to my ears. Scott was then told that he could go over to where she was and see her but it seemed like forever before they wrapped her up and brought her over to me and all I could do was touch her little face and then they took her off to the nursery to be examined. I was sent to recovery for a couple of hours and didn't get to hold my daughter for the first time until after 1:00 on Friday morning. I am glad that Scott and Cheryl were able to share these details while they were happening.

The first 3 days of Jayci's life we had to spend in the hospital and we got plenty of time to spend with her and get used to nursing and for me to start recovering from surgery and I am so glad that we were sent home Sunday afternoon. Now that we are home I have been able to be more comfortable and Mom is staying with us for a few weeks. I can't tell you how much help that is as she is doing a lot of work around the house and helping with Jayci since I am still unable to do some things and this helps us all rotate and let the other two get some sleep.

I have spent the last 41 weeks thinking about what it would be like when Jayci actually arrived and nothing compares to what it is like now that she is here. We have had some rough spots with her feedings and her sleep (or lack of) but I wouldn't trade this experience for anything in the world. Being a mother is something that I could have never prepared for but is something that I treasure so dearly. I catch myself watching Jayci sleep and make faces and it makes me smile. I sit and hold Jayci as she is nursing and it makes my heart skip a beat as I watch her. Even the changing of a diaper or trying to comfort her as she cries are feelings like I have never had before. Jayci is truly a gift and each moment is something new for me right now and I look forward to each day with her. I have truly enjoyed watching Scott with his new little girl (she has him wrapped around her finger already) and he is a natural father as he had showed me for the past 7 years whith Brittany and Molly. Seeing Mom and Dad with Jayci has also been great to watch as they have looked forward to being grandparents and going through this whole preganancy with us. Mom and Dad have always considered Brittany and Molly as their grandchildren and now they get the opportunity to experience a grandchild from the moment she was born...Mom was in the delivery room until the c-section! Cheryl is already an excellent Aunt and Jayci to have her and I know that Cheryl will always be there for her as she has been for Molly and Brittany. I can't wait to share her with the rest of our family and friends and I know that I won't be able to post very often for now but Scott is helping me out with this as he is posting my entries for me and getting our pictures online and Cheryl is doing the same on her blog. Well I am going to get a little rest for now as Jayci is sleeping and I will hopefully have another post soon.

Getting ready for trip home

Mandy and I have heard the best news this morning as we were told we are going to be dismissed. The past few months have been very anxious for us waiting Jayci's arrival and she is more than we could ever have imagined. She is such a good baby (fingers crossed) with very little crying even at feeding time, just works her tongue in and out of her mouth when she is hungry. I am posting a couple of new pics and Mandy wants to post a little later so I will leave more of the good stuff for her to post.

What a Blessing

Today was our first full day with Jayci and it was so wonderful. Jayci is doing so well and on top of being so beautiful, such a good baby. When they first brought her to us last night at 1:15 a.m. Mandy thought she would try and breast feed her for the first time. We have heard all the horror stories about breast feeding and Mandy was a little apprehensive at first. With a little help and a lot of love Jayci latched on and has been breast feeding ever since with very little discomfort to Mandy. Speaking of Mandy, she has been such a champ today. She has been very patient and has handled breast feeding like a champ. She has been a little worried that she would do well with all this stuff and you could asked for anyone any better. She has given me a list of food items that she wanted after jayci was born and they said she could start having small amounts of solid foods when she walked around a little. She has been a speed demon in the halls since about 8:30 and they have ordered her a solid breakfast. I guess I am going to Jersey Mikes for lunch tomorrow (one of her request).

Thank You!

to Papa and Grandmother Quinn for the beautiful flowers, Auburn blanket, and teddy bear...

to Scott, Suzy, Anna, and Patrick for the beautiful flowers (these are my favorite)and frame...

Mommy And I

Jayci was finally cleaned up and ready to meet Mommy and Daddy at 12:15 this morning October 17th. After spending a little time getting to see Grandma, Momma and Daddy - Jayci was a little hungry. She filled her little tummy a couple of times and off to sleep she went abd back to the nursery to let mommy get a little rest. Mandy is doing fine, a little sore as to be expected but what a smile when they brought that beautiful girl in the room. Jayci has such long legs and big feet, just like her mom. I can't wait for everyone to see her as she is our most precious little angel.

We will keep you updated...

2nd Afternoon Update...

She has now had the epidural and is at 6inches. She is feeling no pain so all is good...

Afternoon Update...

So, contractions are getting worse - increasing "happy drugs"

they did have to induce the labor but so far everything is going great...

We will keep you posted...

Baby Update

OK - So I've finally got Mandy's password and I will now be updating both blogs.

Mandy is currently sleeping (she didn't get a lot of sleep last night - but neither did Mom or Scott.) They are currently gave mandy "happy" drugs to help with the pain. The good news that we got was that she may not have to be induced. Things are progressing on their own (with help of other drugs). We will keep you updated as we get more news...

It's official...she will be here Thursday!

We had our checkup this morning and Jayci has still not decided to come on her own so we will be induced. I am scheduled to go into the hospital tomorrow night at 7:00 and she will be born sometime on Thursday!! We didn't want to do the induction route but at this point she is full term and her mommy is ready for this part of this journey to be over...giggle. Cheryl is going to try to keep the blog updated while we are in the hospital so stay tuned for further details as we will have our new baby girl here in just a couple of days.

There is an end in sight!!

I had my 40 week dr's appointment this morning and this time Scott decided to go with me. Dr. Obeikwe checked to see if I had started to dialate and still nothing and so she gave us the option of inducing. Scott and I have a little difference of opinion on this as I am ready for this part of our journey to be over and move on to her being here and although he is ready to he is very concerned (as am I) of the induction process and the chance it increases us needing to have a c-section. We also asked about the risks with the medications they use for induction and of course there is always a risk but she said the real risk is a c-section and really our chances have already increased for that probability because as you go past your due date the baby's size just gets bigger so we are in that territory anyway. Well the Dr stepped out of the room for me and Scott to discuss it and Scott said that he would go along with whatever I wanted as I am the one that is getting more and more uncomfortable and I also wanted to respect his feelings as well. The Dr came back in and we asked a couple of questions and also let her know how we each felt about it and she said that we would go ahead now and form a plan which is to let things progress through the weekend on their own and if nothing happens then we will be back in her office first thing Tuesday morning for an exam and then if nothing has changed or if it is still going slow then they will admit me either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning to be induced. One way or another we will have a baby here by the middle of next week!!! Scott is still keeping his fingers crossed that she will come on her own on Tuesday as this is his birthday and I think that would be an awesome birthday present for him. I am hoping that we don't have to go the induction route so please keep us in your prayers that we can do this naturally but if we do have to be induced then I know we are in excellent hands. Love to everybody!!!

Still Waiting!

Well we went to the Doctor today and we are still waiting. I saw the new doctor today and she said that she doesn't consider induction until about 41 weeks and I was only 39 weeks and one day today. That is the other thing, they can't seem to make up their minds when my due date is. They are now saying that officially it is the 8th but that it could be anywhere from the 2nd to the 10th! I mentionted how uncomforatable I have gotten and how now my hands are swelling in addition to my feet and ankles and she said that if she is the one that sees me next week then we may talk about inducing. However, I found out that my next appointment (10-9-08) will be with one of the other Doctors (which I love this one) and it is Dr. Obekwe which is the one that I saw last week and she is also the one that said that she considers induction at 40 weeks which is where I will be next week. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Jayci will make this decision for us and she will come on her own in the next 3-4 days. I started my maternity leave this past Monday as it was getting harder and harder to go to work so I am really hoping that she does comes soon so I can get as much time with her while I am out as I can. I did decide to take the full 12 weeks for my leave so I am not scheduled to go back until December 29th. Well that is about it for now....love to everyone!

Weekly Update

We had our doctors appointment yesterday and everything was just fine. Jayci is still moving a lot and the doctor mentioned that since she is getting bigger that her movements may start to get less because she doesn't have as much room to move around but up to this point that isn't the case...she is a mover!!! We have our next appointment on the 25th and I start my maternity leave on the 29th of September and won't go back to work until the 29th of December. Hopefully by starting my maternity leave a few days before her due date this will give me some time to get in some rest before she arrives. Oh we had our child birthing class Monday night and learned a lot and we also got to take a tour of the hospital and it was nice to see the labor and delivery room and get familiar with where everything is before the time comes so that way it won't be all new to us when the time comes to have her.

Last Friday my co-workers had a baby shower for me and it turned out wonderfully! There was a lot to eat and we received many nice things. Here is the link to the pictures from the shower:

Another trip to the doctor and a baby shower!

Yesterday we started our weekly appointments and everything was fine. The swelling in my feet and ankles has gone down a lot and if I can stay off of my feet then it should stay that way...hopefully! We go back on the 18th and Dr Cooper said that now is the time to start looking out for signs of early labor and I have to admit that as long as she is healthy Jayci could be born today and I would be a happy camper...giggle. I am getting more and more uncomfortable everyday and I am now starting to second guess if I can work up until the day she is born. Right now I am just taking it day by day and hopefully I can at least make it through to the end of next week.

Today my co-workers are throwing me a shower here at work so I am very excited about that and will post how that went.

Love to everyone!

Dr's Visit

Today was my 36 week Dr's appointment and this time I had to take a strep test and my Dr also gave me some news that I really didn't want to hear...she wants to put me on bed rest for the next 5 days!! She said that my feet and ankles are very swollen and that I need to stay off of them. I am at work right now but will take tomorrow off and of course I will have the weekend and then I may be out of work on Monday as well but we will just see if the swelling goes down by then. Other than that Jayci's heartbeat sounded great and she is still moving quite a bit so now we are down to going to the doctor once a week.

A Short Update.

This past Thursday was our latest Dr's appointment and everything went very well. We go back on the 4th and I have to have a test done and then after that I start going once a week!!! Jayci has gotten to where she is taking up so much room that it is getting harder for me to breathe and she loves pushing up on my ribs....that is such a comfortable feeling...giggle. We went ahead and packed our hospital bags this past weekend so we would be ready if she comes a little early. I can't believe that our due date is just a little over a month away!!

The Nursery is Almost Done!

Last weekend Scott painted Jayci's room and we did get the crib together and in the course of last week we got all of the furniture in the room. We had mom come down this past weekend to help paint the room but we surprised her by already having that done! She did get started on the mural on the wall and that will be an ongoing project for a little while. I have attached a couple of pics of the nursery but we still have a couple of minor things to do like hang the curtains, put some stuff on the walls and get the room cleaned up a little more.

Monday, August 11, 2008

Quick Update.

We went to the Dr last Thursday and everything went fine. I was told that I should only have one more test before Jayci is born and that is a test for strep at 35 weeks. My Dr also went ahead and asked me my thoughts on pain medication during delivery and I told her I want whatever they can give me....lol. We go back to the Dr on the 21st and then it won't be too much longer and I will be going once a week....it is getting so much closer! Scott and I finished cleaning out Jayci's room this weekend and now we are ready to paint and get the crib setup. I also went ahead and washed all of her clothes and we got a high chair the other day and we started stocking up on our diapers and wipes as well and with buying this stuff and getting her room ready it really seems like it is getting so close to her being here. I want to thank everyone again for coming to the shower last weekend! Love to everyone!

Jayci's latest ultrasound.

We went for Jayci's 3D/4D ultrasound Sunday morning and here is the link to the pictures:

http://www.dotphoto.com/go.asp?l=bfi&P=Quinn&AID=5427841&CID=0&T=1&E=Y

Just click on the first image to enlarge it and then you can use the scroll bar at the bottom to scroll through each picture or click on the link at the top of the enlarged picture that says watch show and it will play a slide show of all the pictures. Overall we were fairly satisfied with the pictures but Jayci didn't cooperate and about all we could get was the side of her face and the quality in the pictures wasn't as good as we had hoped. We did get better detail this time of her nose, cheeks, feet and hands and she still remained in a ball with her feet up to her ears like she had done in our other ultrasounds. This is a priceless experience and don't regret at all doing it and can't wait until she makes her debut into the world and see what she really looks like!!!

Our Recent Doctor's Visit.

Yesterday we went to see the doctor and everything was just fine. This is really getting to be a routine where I go every two weeks and they weigh me, take my blood pressure, measure my belly and listen to the heartbeat. I did get my results back from my last round of blood tests and was told that everything was fine. This last round of tests was to check that the RoGham shot that I got two weeks ago was producing the necessary antibodies so in the event that Jayci's blood type and mine are not compatible then there wouldn't be any problems. We go back on Aug 7th and in the meantime Scott and I are still working on getting her room cleaned out and I have to get serious picking out the colors for the walls.

Scott feels Jayci move for the 1st time!

Just a quick post to share some exciting news...Scott felt Jayci move for the first time. I have felt her so much more in the last 3-4 weeks and in this last week it has felt like more then just kicks as now it feels like she is flipping in there...giggle. Well, Sunday night Scott was singing to Jayci and he had his head on my tummy when she started moving around. We aren't sure if she was dancing along with Scott's singing or if she was telling him to shut up but none the less it was exciting! Oh I mentioned in my last post that we had ordered Jayci's crib and we went to pick it up last weekend. We took everything out of the box to make sure nothing was damaged (thankfully nothing was) and also to see what it looked like (a little darker wood then we thought) and we both loved it. We still can't put it together just yet but we plan on cleaning out the nursery this weekend so maybe in the next 3-4 weeks we will have the room painted and the crib setup. Well we have a Dr's appointment on Thursday and I will post again then to let everyone know how it went. Love to everyone!

More Dr's Appointments & New Due Date!!

Well I found out today that my due date is now Oct 2nd instead of the 8th! This means I am actually 28 weeks along now instead of where I thought I was 27. With the milestone of meeting the 28th week mark this means they have moved me to my appointments being every 2 weeks. Today I had to have another RhoGam shot because of my blood type and I also got to hear Jayci's heartbeat again. I have to go tomorrow morning for some blood work and these tests are also because of my blood type which is negative and with Scott being positive then there is a very good possibility that Jayci has a positive blood type which doesn't work with mine. Really this isn't supposed to be a big concern with the first baby but I still have to go through all of the tests and shots to make sure. Our next dr's appointment will be on July 24th.

Just to let everyone know we will be having another 3D/4D ultrasound done on August 3rd and can't wait to see what our little girl looks like now.

Oh one more quick thing, Scott and I ordered Jayci's crib Monday night and hopefully it will be delivered by this weekend. We won't be able to put it together just yet as her room is still storage but at least this has been taken care of and is one less thing we have to worry about. Now our little one has a place to sleep...giggle.

Love everyone!!

Dr's Appointment for June

I had my monthly appointment today and this is where I had to be tested for gestiational diabetes. I had to drink this very tasty drink (actually it wasn't that bad) and then I had to wait in the office for an hour before they could draw my blood. While waiting this hour my Dr went ahead and weighed me, took my blood pressure, and measured my ever growing belly! I also got to hear the heartbeat again and Dr Cooper said everything sounded and looked great. I have to wait until probably Tuesday or Wednesday for the results of my sugar test and my next appointment is in two weeks on July 10th.

A quick upadate on how we are feeling...
I had a couple of days on the cruise where I didn't feel good (don't think it was cruise related) and I had another day this past Tuesday that wasn't all that great but other than the really hot weather we are doing great. I have felt Jayci more and more everyday and she is really active in the morning and late in the day. No one else can feel her yet except for me but I don't think it will be too much longer. Well until the next update...Love to everyone!!

Our Monthly Checkup

Today I went in for my monthly Dr's appointment and everything went very well. We did the usual weighing, blood pressure & listen to the baby's heartbeat. Dr Cooper said that we are both doing very well and I had to double check with her to make sure that it was still alright for us to go on our cruise in a couple of weeks. I haven't had any problems during the pregnancy but since I will be 23 weeks along during the cruise the cruise line asked that my Dr give the okay before I can board the ship. I was fairly certain that I would get the okay but you never know and as soon as I asked her she said "can I go with you?" and then she said just go have fun and relax as much as you can....YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! Jayci will get to take her first cruise before she ever gets here and keep your fingers crossed that she likes it our I will be paying for it...giggle. Our next appointment is June 29th where I will be tested for gestational diabetes and my iron will be checked as well and I will also more than likely be given a shot because of my blood type and the possibility that it is incompatible with Jayci's. Well that is about all for now so until next time.

Jayci's 3D/4D Experience

This past Sunday we went to have a 3D/4D ultrasound done and we were very pleased with the results. Mom and Dad went with us and got to see Jayci and hear her heartbeat...it was awesome to say the least. Below I have the two 4D videos we were given and there is a link to the pictures we got as well. I alco have the DVD and I am in the process of getting some still shots from it. The nurse told us on Sunday that what we were seeing was still kind of skeletal as Jayci only weighs approximately 11 ounces so she doesn't have a whole lot of fat on her yet. We are so glad that we took this opportunity to see our little girl during this stage and can't wait to do it again at about 30-34 weeks so there should be a lot more detail in those.

Jayci's next photo opportunity.

Scott and I have been looking into having a 3D/4D ultrasound done and was trying to decide when to get it done. Well we have found a place in Alpharetta and have scheduled an appointment for next Sunday (May 25). We looked at several places around Columbus and Montgomery but when we found this one we were very happy with what they had to offer and they are close enough to Mom and Dad's where we can take them with us! If anyone else is interested just let me know as we were told we could bring about 8 people with us. Anyway we decided to do the ultrasound next weekend as between 16-23 weeks you can get pictures of the whole body and then between 24-27 weeks you get half the body in one photo and then from 28-32 weeks you only get sections of the body in each photo such as just the face. We will be 20 1/2 weeks at this ultrasound so we should get the whole body and then we will go back at about 28-30 weeks to have it again were we can get pictures of Jayci when she is more developed. We are very excited to do this and can't wait to share the photos/videos. I am beginning to feel things that I am not sure what they are and sometimes I think it may be her kicking but I am not really sure about this but it is exciting to think that it is her. Of course I have had a lot of people tell me just wait until you know for sure that she is kicking and you won't be able to deny it!!

The wait is over!!

Yesterday our little one had their first movie made and before we started the technician asked if Scott and I wanted to know the gender and we said yes and for a while it seemed as though he/she wouldn't show us if we would plan on blue or pink but just when we were about to give up the technician said well it is a GIRL!!! Through most of the ultrasound she had her legs tucked up to her chest with her feet touching her head (she is flexible) but after a little playing around from the technician she got the baby to move and show us that we are in fact expecting a daughter! It was so emotional for both Scott and I as all we really wanted to find out was that the baby was healthy and from everything that was seen (and she took lots of measurements) the technician said that everything looks great! We do have a VHS tape that we were given when it was over and I am now in the process of looking at getting it transferred to DVD so I can get some still shots of our little girl but I did get the camera out and take pictures of the tape playing so sorry for the poor quality. As for the name "Jaycimarie Hayden" I have to tell you our thoughts behind it. For those of you who don't know Scott and I tried for a long time to have a baby and had really given up until my grandmother (Marie) passed away last year and then Scott said lets try one more time. It wasn't just 5 months later we were pregnant so we strongly believe that she had a hand in this so we knew we wanted to use her name if we had a girl and then with the Jayci, my grandfather was always called by his initials J.C. and that is also my dad's initials and since my mom's middle name is Marie then it just seemed that these had to fit somehow so we came up with Jaycimarie and then Hayden comes from Scott's side of the family (his uncle) and he has several funny stories about uncle Hayden so there you go we now have a name for our little girl! This name is a little different but with those that inspired this name it seems to fit our little angel because there are two angels (my grandfather and grandmother) that I know are going to watch over her and Jayci's grandparents (my mom and dad) will be here to guide her and to have all of their names together is an honor for Scott and I.

Still waiting to know.

Today we went to the doctor hoping that we would find out if our little one is a boy or a girl but we didn't as we just got to hear the heartbeat which the doctor said is very strong and steady and sounds great! While we were there the doctor did schedule us an ultrasound for Monday May 5th and this is when we should find out what we are having if the baby cooperates. So we just have to wait 4 more days as we won't find out until around 3:00 on Monday. Everything is going well and I am now feeling the baby move which is awesome and we eat all the time so we are both growing...giggle. I will update either late Monday or first thing Tuesday to let everyone know how the ultrasound goes.

Latest Dr's Appointment

Yesterday I went to the doctor and I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time...that is an awesome feeling!! This time I didn't get to see the baby but the doctor said that he/she has a very strong heartbeat and that everything looks good! Our next appointment will be on May 1st and hopefully at that time she can give us a better idea as to when we can find out what we are having.

This week we have another Dr's appointment on Thursday and I will post how that goes. Scott has been picking with me the last couple of weeks because he says that I need to quit telling people that I have been feeling good because in the last couple of weeks I have been hit with feeling bad everyday when I get home from work and he said this is because I have been bragging...giggle. Really though I can't complain because it mainly happens at night and doesn't last too long so it could be a lot worse. Scott and I are holding off on buying a lot of stuff until we know what we are having (probably another 4-6 weeks) but he did buy me a glider with ottoman to put in the nursery as I have told him just about every time I seen one that I really want to have one. The room we are using as the nursery is still full of stuff and we have a lot of work to do before we can even get it cleaned out so the glider will probably stay in the box for now and I need to find a place to put the stuff we are already getting from family and friends. Well I will post again in a couple of days when we have gone to the doctor and let you all know how that went!!

Time for a change.

Well there isn't anything new to post but I thought that since we have had the same background for a while now and now that it is spring I would change the looks of our blog.

2nd Doctor's Visit.

Today was our second doctors visit and everything looks great! I do have a picture of the ultrasound but I will have to wait until I can get a chance to scan it before I can post it. This picture is not very clear at all but our little jelly bean has progressed into what our Dr said is about the size of a cocktail shrimp but we are not going to call it our little shrimp or shrimpy...giggle. The baby was playing with us today as he/she was on his/her head and it's feet up in the air. The Dr said the heart is beating great and everything else looks fantastic at this point. Over all the appointment went well as it was very quick (in and out of there in about 30 minutes) but we did have to go through that dreaded "let's see how much you have gained" thing and I have gained about 8 pounds but the Dr wasn't at all concerned and said to enjoy my easter candy next weekend so I guess it isn't that big of a deal at this point. I am trying to get in the habit of going walking 3-5 days a week so with that and trying to cut out the bad for me snacks maybe it won't get too out of hand. I still haven't had too much to complain about except for this past Monday and Tuesday. Those two days I felt worse then I have felt through this whole thing and I told Scott that was my payback for telling Mom just a couple of days before that I hadn't been sick at all so I am not going to say that EVER AGAIN! Our next Dr's appointment will be on April 3rd and then we will be through the first trimester and I know my mind will be at ease a little more making it through the first 12 weeks. Well until next time!!

A quick post.

Well there isn't really anything to post right now but I thought I would post really quick just so I get in the habit of updating both blogs..lol. We have a dr's appointment next week so I definitely will have an update then because hopefully we will get to hear the heartbeat and of course we can just see how we are doing. Since I really haven't been sick (thank god) then there are a lot of times it seems like I am not even pregnant but I am gaining weight because of course I eat ALL THE TIME!! I can't fit into any of the pants I owned before I got pregnant so we have gone out to buy some new clothes and I am trying to exercise more because I don't want to gain too much weight as the dr said I should really only gain a couple of pounds in the first 12 weeks and about 25 through the whole pregnancy and I have already gained 6!!

Our First Baby Post.

For those who haven't heard Scott and I are expecting and we are due on October 8th....so was everyone surprised?!?!? Scott and I were both surprised and overjoyed with the news and we are just in the very beginning of this so please keep us in your prayers. Below I have attached our first picture (I will try to get a clearer one) and as Scott said it is not much more than a jelly bean right now but we did get to see the heart beat and that is an indescribable feeling and at this point the doctor said me and the baby are doing fine. Both Molly and Brittany are excited to have a new brother or sister and for the most part right now I have been feeling great except for getting hungry every couple of hours and getting very tired around 6:00 or 7:00 so I have a very early bedtime but Scott said that isn't too much different..lol.

I have decided to setup another blog just for this special occasion as that keeps the other one separate for family events and updates and this one can be dedicated to baby news. We will see how it goes having two blogs as I seem to have trouble keeping the one updated...lol. As for the background on this blog you may ask why I chose cookie monster well there is a story behind that. Ever since we found out we were expecting we found ourselves calling the baby "it" or "the baby" since we won't know if it is a boy or a girl until at least 10 more weeks and Cheryl and I were talking and trying to come up with something and since I have been hungry so much Cheryl said it was my "cookie monster" so there you go!!
